The Guild Wars 2 Preparations Thread!

With all of the crazy stuff going on in Kryta right now, combined with the fact that I'm going to be spending the next three months in a town with (by my count, as of 5/23/2010) 2.2 times as many green chili stands as Starbuck's, I think it's high time we started preparing coming content! This basically consists of two parts:
1) Keep up with the War in Kryta! You must observe Zinn's Trial (outside Vloxx's Falls) and the first three Shining Blade Camp dialogs in order to participate in Shining Blade Bounties. I would also recommend that everyone completes Thackeray's Treasure Hunt on at least one character, in case that is a barrier for content later on.
Also, I'd like to start the betting pool on when Courier Falken gets promoted to Captain.
2) Hall of Monuments stuff! Vanquishing, Guardianing, gathering Destroyer weapons... let's organize and do the tough ones as a group!

I theorize that ANet will reward either for reaching display rank (when you can show the title on yourself or in the HoM) or max rank or both.

What are your goals before GW2?

War in Kryta:
Have my ranger, mesmer, ele, monk, and paragon up to the bounty level. I don't intend to go hog wild and do them all on each but they're there just in case. Ranger is done with all dialogs minus the random ones. Monk is in the middle of Thackeray's treasure hunt.
HoM:
oh geeze...I'd have to look that up. We've been combining Vanquishing with the bounties, but I don't know if I'm stuck on anything. More on that later!

1) Catch up on the War in Kryta. I believe I had my elementalist observe the trial but that's all I've done so far for lack of any real motivation to do so yet.


2) Hall of Monuments - More Minis would be nice. I have all the armors I want entered. Destroyer/Tormented weapons / Titles still don't really have much pull. Maybe, I'll try.


3) Find out the specs for Guild Wars 2. I was thinking of purchasing a netbook (HP Mini 311 at highest specs off the HP store) as my first portable due to cost.

A netbook would be ill-advised for any respectable kind of gaming. The low price, small size, and long battery life are basically all at the expense of power. It might survive GW1, but I wouldn't push it with GW2!

Yeah, I'm aware. Guild Wars 1 is reported to run fine on a HP Mini 311 (closest thing to a media netbook as I know); it's the reason that it came to mind since I mostly just wanted a portable device that I could watch anime on, word process, surf the Internet, and play GW1 and Ragnarok Online.

I've looked into laptops; they just seem too expensive. I don't really need that much from a computer since I don't game all that much on a PC.
