ventrilo and you.....and me

Hey gang,
First of all, ventrilo is great. If there are members of the guild who aren't on vent yet, I encourage you to DL the client and get connected. Even if you don't have a mic, you could listen in. It goes without saying that vent is critical for PvP success. Vent also helps bind the guild together (IMO).
A couple things about me you should know. When I meet people I am horrible at remembering names. I am also really bad at recognizing people by their voice. Friends I've known for years call me and I still have to ask who I'm talking to sometimes.
What's my point? It is rather confusing to log into vent and see log in names that don't match up to the names people are going by when they talk. Could we pretty please adjust this. In the guild a couple days and I'm already trying to establish policy (how uppity!) but I would appreciate it, and perhaps other new folks might too, that if you want to be called 'snowflake' when people talk to you that your name isn't listed as 'the artist formerly known as snowflake' in the little vent window. I'm already afraid of calling people by the wrong name and this is like tossing me into a minefield while blindfolded.

My vent name is Farnsworth, but my game name is Delor. I will also respond to any of my character names, so dont worry about calling me the wrong thing. I'd change my name but I'm so F***ing lazy that I know I won't get around to it for a few weeks so I'll use the time it woud take to do that typing this post instead.

Just call me Ducky, you should recognise me by my "distinctive" (apparently) accent.

Most people here are called by their main character name. So no matter who Triia is playing, I call her Triia, and no matter who Monkey is currently, he's still Monkey, and Delor is delor...You'll get used to it after awhile. I think there's a program floating around that displays the vent user list on the screen so you can see who's talking.

The problem is that I am not easily making the connection between the voice and the various characters said voice is linked to. It takes about 15 seconds to change your display name in ventrilo and it would clear up all the confusion. Why isn't that the easy answer?

Syb, take a look at your signature, and all the confusion in this thread shall become clear.

The only two people I can think of who break this rule are Delor (Farnsworth) and Ducky (Darksabre). I'll go ahead and endorse your uppity policy decision, but if it turns out that I have no control over the guild, would it really be that hard to memorize those two names?
