Once again, the Glorious Republic is looking to add a few good members and to find a worthy alliance. Due to the time of year and various real life commitments, many of us are going to be quite busy outside of the game. To help cover more ground, we'd like to ask all members to keep an eye open, both ingame and on the forums, for people who might be what we're looking for. This thread will be a place for everyone to post any names or links to the posts of potential recruits. Most of the bigger GW forums have a recruiting section and it's usually a good place to poke around. If you find an alliance or someone who sounds good, please post a link to the thread so one of the officers can get in touch. We don't want to have a lot of overlapping contacts. Some of the recruiting boards (if you know of any other good ones, please message me): GWGuruGWOnlineThe Guild HallGuild Wars OGaming

If it is ok with everyone, I would like to contact Redemption of the Phoenix[xRPx] (see their GWG ad) to discuss possibly joining their alliance. They are a PvE-based guild of a lot of people, but they have one PvP focused guild in their alliance, and one guild similar to us in that they dabble in everything. They prefer players only 18+, but I'm sure we could sway them with our *cough* mature *cough* teen members. Having an officer who is 13ish migh not be so good though;) After looking through what I can on their webpage and forums, they seem to be a pretty decent group of people with some talented web programmers. PM me with thoughts or comments on this. Thanks!

I had a look at their site a while ago and would very much like to get in touch with them. They sound like a very likely candidate for an alliance.

I agree, as long as casual PvPer's doesn't mean bad PvPer's. After all some of us who have been pushing for an alliance all along wanted it so we could get more people to join us for HA/TA/AB runs.

Not necessarily the right thread for this, but it's close enough I suppose. I know that Tark is inactive, and he has no intention of coming back. However, that is the account that I have the information for so that ladyfriend can try GW. So this is just my way of saying please don't kick Tark.

I think it is time again. I'm tired of not having enough human players to fill out a team. Time to start going with PUGs instead of Heroes. Time to start reading and/or posting on forums. Time to start contacting people to see if they are coming back. Time to start coming back!

There are few and far between as far decent candidates out there atm. Here's the only recent one on GWG that I found:

What's the strategy here? Do officers make contact or can anyone? We should give this guy a test drive. He wrote a resume for crying out loud; 3 cheers for literacy! Anyhoo, we should contact this guy and then set up a time for him to hang out with us so we can meet and greet. That means we as a guild have to make an effort to be online together. Then we should impress him with our organizational skills and have 2 or 3 activities we want to undertake with him so we can actually play together and feel each other out. We could (should?) come up with 2 or 3 activities as set pieces to use for any potential recruits. Activities include a PvE instance to run through, probably one mission from each campaign (THK anyone??), and then perhaps an offer to do a skill cap or something else PvE-ish and then we should do some PvP, maybe team arena or whatever. It's not an insane idea to have a recruitment officer in the guild. There are advantages. Said individual should have great interpersonal skills. We could also have a schedule where everyone gets to have a turn. Now I see all you introverts sitting there thinking "great idea syb, go take charge". Let's just keep in mind that, to an extent, we're all recruitment officers because every time we play we're being evaluated by other players and it reflects back on HLR. To be effective we really need to establish a recruitment policy. The policy needs to be fair, universally applied and transparent; meaning it is posted here in the recruitment forum as a sticky so every recruit knows what to expect from us and they know what is expected of them to be considered as a full fledged member of this august gathering of personages. =) We also need a statement of purpose for the guild and a vague notion of what the guilds goal(s) is(are). Some examples:
Half Life Republic (HLR) is a guild of mature and like-minded folks who have come together to play Guild Wars. We enjoy PvE and PvP equally. Our main focus is the undertaking of grand adventures and the administering of dealage.
HLR: we pwn all!!!
Our primary goal is to have fun. Ideally we want to be a top 200 rated guild with an active player base of 20-30 players who all enjoy playing with each other.
Our goal is to pwn all!!! You’re either with us, or an unsightly stain in our way!!!
Successful candidates for HLR should be friendly, helpful and mature (most of the time). Keep in mind maturity has neither a lower or upper age limit. Candidates will be required to have ventrilo. Ventrilo allows for critical communication during PvP as well as critical communication to hang out with your fellow guildmates to maintain our closeknit community. The candidate must also register on the HLR forums and make an introductory post and ask to be considered as a member. There are no level or class requirements for candidate characters. Candidates are also not required to own all the Guild Wars expansions although it is encouraged as most guild members do and this allows for more variety during play.
If you’re uber we want you!!! If you suck we don’t!!!
The recruitment process will involve the candidate and guild members having at least 3 chances to meet and chat, as well as play together. After the members meet the candidate an officer will call for a vote. The candidate will be told and the guild has one week to make a decision on the candidate. A simple majority of yes votes grants the candidate membership. Officers have veto power. An officer of the guild will then contact the candidate and tell them if they were accepted or not.
Play with us dood!!!
We look forward to your application. Good luck!
Let’s pwn!!!
So, obviously, the details need to be hammered out but this gives you an idea of what I have in mind. I think we should all take a good look at where the guild is now and think about where we want HLR to be. Then we can make a plan to get there. =)
I currently think the guild is too small and that to maximize our fun we need more active players. What say you?

Syb honestly, if I had the power to make you our recruitment officer, I would. A policy for entrance into the guild, a template to "test" the applicant out, are all great things to have. You also seem to have beaten anyone to the punch and written out something that would fit our needs. Do you think you can give a brief version of everything, the barest of outlines, so everyone can discuss the details and possibly hammer this out as something we use from now on? Least, I like it and would use it, but some more opinions are needed
