I think we have more than enough talent to go far in GvG. Most of us play as much as any Top 100 guild. Yet here we stand, ambling about with over 1,000 guilds ahead of us. We're better than that.
This Thursday, we're going to start the process of tapping some of that potential. And to do this, we're going to go back to the basics. We're going to take what we know works, and tweak and hone it until it's even better. So we're going to revive the old Axe Spiking/Degen build.
We've tried many forms in the past, but the one that seems to work best is:
Prot Monk: Malae
Healing Monk: Jay
Bodyguard: Kaiser
Axe Spiker 1: Monkey
Axe Spiker 2 (+ runner?): Jupiter
Degen + Slow Necro 1: Delor (We still need your build in the Builds board, Delor!)
Degen + Slow Necro 2: Triia
Anti-Monk Spiker: Logo
We always had a reasonable amount of success, but we'd hit a roadblock once we started getting to the Rank < 500 teams. I truly believe that the reason we stumble is not a fault of our overall concept or builds, but simply of our execution. To put it simply, we're a pseudo-spiker team, yet we make almost no effort to coordinate spikes. Consider how successful we normally are with almost no coordination, and then imagine if we actually played this right. I can hear Monkey fapping in anticipation.
Awhile ago, we had some good ideas, but faltered in the execution, finally giving up. I'd like to go back to them. The idea is that the two axe spikers build their adrenaline on two separate monks. Having built their adrenaline, both switch to a single monk, who is then spiked simultaneously by the mesmer and two axe spikers. Degen is being applied to both monks at the same time. The spikers switch back and forth between monks until their death penalty is too great for them to be useful. It sounds great in theory, but as we saw, is very hard to execute correctly. The key, however, is not to get discouraged, but keep practicing and working at it. This process begins Thursday.
Please post if you CAN OR CANNOT make it at the above time and play in your ascribed slot. In other words, everyone should reply. Furthermore, consider this post to be a starting point for honing our strategy. If anyone has any ideas on how to tweak builds or technique for Thursday, post them here.
