Is it a Google bot? I thought that was the 66.249.XX.XX IP. I guess there could be others, but it seems really weird. It was down to four but every time I refresh the page there's a new one.

You're probably right. I was just assuming it was some kind of search engine thing, and Invasion of the Ambiguous Search Engine Bots didn't have that ring to it.
The other thing that crossed my mind was a failed DoS attack orchestrated by Beast and her minions. But not only does that not make sense, the ip addresses are so similar they suggest some kind of automated process.

I ran an IP lookup, and it seems all of the 74.6.X.X IPs belong to Inktomi Corp., a marketing subsidiary of Yahoo! The name server reads yahoo.com. So this seems to be Invasion of the Yahoo! Bots. The last one on the list is Google's bot. I don't think there is any malfeasance in this case. Besides, I don't think the alliance members are those types of people.

You mean smart enough to find our forums? Just because we didn't get along with them real well does not mean we need to be disparaging them in our publicly viewable forums. It makes us look bitter. |
