We’ve been trying to think up some ideas for a little guild fun and thought some contests might be just the thing. I have several ideas and I think they’d all be possible. Feedback and other ideas are welcome.
Screenshot Hunt – At an announced time, a screenshot of somewhere in Ascalon will be posted along with at least one hint. Guild members would then have to hunt down the location of the shot and reproduce it with themselves included. Once the shot is taken, a PM including the picture would be sent to an officer (which would allow us to keep track of submission times for fairness).
The first Hunt will be relatively easy to let everyone get the feel of it, and as of now there will be a cash prize, which will increase relative to the difficulty of the contest. If anyone has other suggestions for prize options, please let me know. I’d like to make this worthwhile.
I was also reminded that not everyone has a talent for finding the more obscure corners of Tyria, so we are considering offering extra hints, each of which would cost perhaps 10% off the offered prize amount. I would like everyone to feel like they can participate. I’m hoping the first run on this won’t take too long, but once it gets harder, we might have some we’d leave open until solved and occasionally some that would be meant to solved quickly.
Scavenger Hunt – A meeting time would be posted here. At the appointed time, everyone would meet at the hall and be given a list of collector items and a time limit. At the end of the time limit, everyone must warp back to the hall to show their collection. Whoever has the most items wins.
Solo Race – I’m not sure if this idea would work well, as not all classes are good at running. But basically we’d meet somewhere where running is fairly easy and race to an agreed destination. The honor system would have to be strongly in effect though, as warping to the destination would be unfair, and there would be no way to monitor this. I’m still trying to think of ways to make this work.
If anyone else has any suggestions or ideas, please let me know. Since most of us have completed the majority of the PvE game, I’d like to keep something going so PvP doesn’t get too stale. Let me know what you think and if you’d be interested in participating.
