It happens. I'm probably behind to the point there's no catch-up, so it doesn't matter too much anyway. Are guilds working on the beta? Or is it still all glitched.

There's always the sidekicking system, so you're never really left behind. Guilds are working; you just have to remember to go to the management tab and click 'Represent' to show up as being in the guild.

Glad to hear about guilds. Seems the servers are as laggy as during the last open beta period. Tried poking Kaiser/Jupiter for no response yet. I'll just stay on the lookout for a guild invite on Vateau Itreax then.
Got invited in. Woot.

And realized I'm on a French server. Not... sure how. Ended up deleting the character thinking that'd fix it. Nope. Unsure how that happened =_=; I wasn't on a French server last time. And I didn't select one this time. Just logged in with my previous Norn I never played last time. Seems there's a free server transfer on the next beta event according to: forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/account/World-Transfers/page/1, so I think I'll just wait until then. Kind of just anger-inducing with the lag there and how unplayable it's been. Was nice speaking to you though, Kaiser. And getting to see the guild briefly. Edit: Seems like it was my default server from last beta that has since become a French server. Quite the server mess especially with guest not being up. Certainly not going to World vs. World for a French server.

Can't you switch servers using gems?

Seems like a waste for one day since it's 1,800 gems which is all but 200 of the freebies we go especially when they're going to be used for character slots (looking at the shop) and such down the line. Presently, the forums are all ablaze about it too.
So I just bowed out for now. The main issue of the flame war was they only offered free server changes until the 9th. So as I only logged in today it was pretty much a middle finger to me and other players finding their guilds are on a full server, or they're stuck in some other one. I saw another case like me with another American server becoming a foreign language server in the same topic.

Ouch. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you this weekend. Honestly, we didn't get a whole lot done, but I don't imaging that helps your frustration. I didn't know a server switch cost that many gems. D: Hopefully the next weekend will go a lot smoother (and they did seem to get that overflow thing worked out this time, so that's something to look forward to, also).

Yeah. The previously beloved Gaile received quite a bit of flaming for Anet seeming like they didn't care about issues that arose with how the servers were this time (primarily from giant 100+ person guilds trying to all nestle in that didn't work out perfectly even with the server overflow expansion--individual cases were largely ignored). I'm not sure how responsive they are as a company to feedback though as I never payed much attention to feedback of Guild Wars 1 and its live balancing. But I can guess there was plenty of complaining since Morello who worked on Guild Wars 1 ended up going to League of Legends (which I play) and he's constantly under the gun on their forums.
It's nice to hear I'm not too far behind; I wasn't as worried about that as it's pretty much a staple of MMPORPGs at the starting line that people will outpace you especially if they're grouping up at times in which you're unavailable. Then people max out, and you slowly catch-up until you're sitting in the zone of "What do we do?" to make our time invested worthwhile.
I'm hoping the next one will be a lot more fun. I did enjoy a private chuckle at watching a Norn use a wand as a mesmer. Reminded me of watching Rune Soldier with the mage attacking with his staff and breaking it over a monster's head.
