Does anyone else get the feeling that ANet planned this all along? ANet: "Character slots? Yes, yes, we've decided. Two more for merged accounts, four for single accounts." *sits back to watch forums explode in chaos*
Forums: *explodes in chaos* "ZOMG!!!11! What will we do?!?! ONLY TWO SLOTS!! I'd sell my SOUL for another slot! TEH HORRORS!!11!!!"
ANet: *waits*
Forums: *become sullenly resigned*
ANet: "Hey folks! Say, since you guys were sooo unhappy about the character slot issue we decided that we'd bend our knees to your all-powerful consumer will and offer you the chance to purchase slots for the Low LOW Price of ONLY $9.99(please note, we trimmed all we could and stuck below double digits!)!!
Forums: *alternately bows down to ANets incredible generosity and starts collecting pocket change or gnashes teeth and yanks at hair about the idiocy of it all, then stampedes off to buy slots anyway*
ANet: *is happy* I haven't looked at any of the forums lately, but that's about what I'd expect. I think two slots should certainly keep me busy for the next six months or so. I'll be very curious to see what they decide to do with the next release.

I'll be very curious to see what they decide to do with the next release. Yeah, that's about right. A lone voice will dare to say that we just might MAYBE be getting ripped off, and a chorus of A.net zombie slaves starts chanting, "But we asked for more character slots and we got them! Stop complaining and enjoy the character slots that were so generously provided to us by our benefactors! Hail A.net, our savior, who died off from Blizzard and rose again to save us from monthly fees! And besides, it's the same price we paid for another account! DUH 2+2=5 LOLOLOLOL!!1!!" I hate it when people blindly give their loyalty to a company and desperately try to silence all opposition. Me ranting on this lowly message board is what capitalism is all about, people! We want to save money, they want to save money, so we FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT until we're all happy! (or dead)

$10 is way too much for a single slot. I think Factions should have come with 3 slots for people with Prophecies, and 4 for people without it. Currently, the large majority of Prophecies players use 3 slots for PvE and 1 for PvP. Moving into Factions, those without Prophecies would then have 3 slots for PvE and 1 for PvP. This may be a little different since so much of Factions is based around PvP anyway. Still, if Prophecies players got 3 slots, they would have the equivalent to what Factions-only players have - 3 new slots, and still retain their PvP slot. This I would consider fair. I do not understand A.net's logic behind the 4/2 issue. I think my way is much more logical, if you absolutely have to give different numbers to different people.
Along those lines, does anyone know what happens if you merge 2 Prophecies accounts together? Do you end up with 8 slots or 6? If you end up with 8, then why is it different for Factions? What is A.net offering as an excuse for only 2 slots? Where is the eqivalent exchange? Do they have some sort of character slot philosopher's stone? I'd give an arm and a leg for more slots. Wait...I'm getting off track again...

Luckily I dont need extra slots because of my FREE extra account. *rubs it in everyone's face*
10 bucks for a slot is a bit steep but I sort of admire the money making scheme they came up with. No monthly fees? We'll just pilfer your money elsewhere!
Oh and I'm taking my monk over to Cantha on my first trip through Factions instead of making an Assassin or Ritualist so I can help with the monking duties.
I can do everything except the presearing Cantha stuff right? And does anyone know if you have to be Ascended to get to Cantha? I saw someone saying that you have to reach LA and be Ascended. I thought you just have to be able to reach LA. If I have to be Ascended I might need a quick run from Beetletun to the desert. *hint hint*
I probably wont be able to play Factions until a couple days after release. I've been pretty busy lately...but I'll be back soon enough to Monk for you guys in Factions.

Merging two GW:P accounts did nothing unless it was a special key with pre-order items or CE for the glowing hands, hence why people also complained.
Merging, while it might not seem a lot, will actually make a difference on what types of build you can and cannot make. I guess it's true, GW is like a trading card game. You can start anytime with any deck and have an equal advantage, but by combining decks, you have a slightly better advantage.
